Final Major Project

Dream House

1. I always wanted to design the houses and buildings since I was little. Finally I got a chance to design the house for my last project in final year at College. My teacher asked me to think about the project of what I want to do as my final project. I knew definitely that I will design house and make it into 3D outcome. I started drawing the designs of the house that I want to make for final.

2. I made research on the internet of the houses design. I only wanted to do modern house design so I only made research about it. Most of the designs that I’ve seen on the internet are design with the auto cad software. I really wanted to design the idea of my house with auto cad but I didn’t get a chance to do it so I only drew the design in my sketchbook and made it with cardboard materials.

These are the pictures of the houses design that I found it on the internet that I really like. It made it using auto cad software so it looks perfect. I really wanted to make my design with Auto Cad too but I couldn’t as I haven’t got chance to do it. I really can not wait to learn how to design houses on Auto Cad.  

This is the house design that I made with thick papers. I didn’t made any windows so it doesn’t look good but I liked the house design and decided I will make the same for my final design using white big cardboard.

I also tried making the house design with cardboard in small version and I liked it but its hard to cut out the shape very neatly as they are very thick but I tried my best. The last two pictures was the one that I made with cardboard. They don’t look good since there are no windows and the corners are looking bad because I didn’t cut it very well.

I am happy with my house design and I decided to make the house more interesting design when I make the final one. 

FLOOR PLAN Research

I like to design both exterior and interior of the house. Before you design the house; you will also need to know what is this house for and have to design floor plan too. I also made research about floor plan on the internet and found so many floor plans and blue prints too. I would like to design my floor plan in blue print too if I will have time but unfortunately I didn’t have time for everything to show it in details.

I also had to make research about roof tops to get the idea of what I wanted to design the roof top for my house. The more I research I got more ideas for my final design. I knew what I wanted my floor plan to be so I drew the floor plan in my sketchbook and also on the PadCad Lite application on my iPad since I didn’t get to use Auto Cad Software.

Since I was little I played The Sim and designed the houses a lot in the game and never got bored of it so I knew this is what I  really want to do for my final major project too. 

I really like the blue print floor plan that I really because showing every little thing about the house. I also drew floor plan in black and white style using application on my iPad. I really enjoyed designing this house floor plan and this is such an amazing experience that I learnt from this.

Designing the house isn't that easy as you have to think for how many people and which ground you going to build the house.


You also have to think about the roof designs. There are many different roof design that I can think of. I also made research to get more ideas for my roof top. I want it to be something different and unique. In first picture I like the Hip and Valley roof design because it is the design idea that've been thinking for my house's roof. To put the windows on the roof top house I chose to do Double pitch Victorian design because it is very unique and will be suitable with the roof top that I'm going to design for my house. I am also thinking about to design curve roof design as I don't want my house to be too squares too straight. 

My Floor Plan Designs

This is the first floor plan I design what I had in mind. It looked very big and large and even drew the floor plan for the car garage. In this application I can design whichever I want for my floor plan to be. I can also put windows, doors and furniture for bedroom, bathroom and the living room.

This picture is the second one that I designed including everything that I want to put it in the house.

This is my final floor plan idea that I chose to do it for my final design. Its 1 small bedroom, 1 big bedroom including bathroom, 1 big kitchen, 1 more bathroom, 1 guest room and living room.

I didn't’t get chance to design the top floor plan on the roof. I had this idea that I’m going to made rooftop with big balcony where family can relax anytime. I will also made store room where you can put things that you don’t use or you can use the room as another guest room. If you look from outside you will not know that there will be one more room on rooftop.  

My Final Design

1. I made this design by using white foam board. When I drew the design in my sketchbook I didn't draw the windows and actual design outcome but when I made the design with board I did put windows in every room that should have. I like this floor plan because I can see the each room are connecting just like how I planned. 

2. In these pictures I was making another floor plan for rooftop and also a roof for the ground floor. I made a square hole as I am going to put ladder to get to the rooftop from the kitchen.

This is the finished design of my final design. I made the roof cover something different than normal house. I made it curvy design as it will look fancy whenever you relax on the top roof balcony. At the back of the house I design the roof cover just like normal house's roof and only on the top I changed into something different. I didn't want to design like this before. This is the left side of the house's view. On the left side there will be the guest room or store room so I made a small windows to get the sun light during the day. I really like this design even though I didn't plan the design like this.

  This is the back view of the house. I think it is too plain since I forgot to put window for the kitchen's roof to get light during the day without using lights inside of the house.

 I am really happy with my design. This is also my very first experience of design and build the house. From windows I can see the room's shadows because of the light. I didn't paint any colour for my house because I didn't have time to finish. If I have more time I will work more for my project. I did have some difficulties while I was building the design; cardboard is kind of thick so I had to cut everything carefully not to get wrong measurement as it is very important for the house to stand everything together straight. I did enjoy working for my final major project and I really cannot wait to get more experience when I go to University.

Evaluation (Photography)

Location Photography

I wasn’t very clear at the first time when I recieved the assignment from my teacher. I know that location photography isn’t that hard as underwater photography but I wasn’t very sure about my idea. As soon as I recieved my assignment I started make research about location photographers. They are Paul Grundy, Ian Aitken and Simon Warren. All of them are focussing on the location photographs and each of them has their own techniques.  Paul and Ian have similar location photographs of the taking photos in the daily sky colour changing. They both focussing on more about the colours and the landscape views. Ian’s photographs are more about sea side, country side and showing many changes of the sky in every day life such as sunset, night time and morning sky picture. Paul photographs are more about the big landscape of the top of the city’s view. He shows a lot more about his city. He is very good at taking picture at night of the city buildings.

Simon’s photographs are very architectural. It is all about buildings and the environments around him. He tooks picture of what is happening in his community area and a lot picture of buildings’ exterior and interior. I really like one of his location photography about the area of welthastow. He took the picture of each popular places in the Welthamstow and connecting them all together to show about the Welthamstow which I think it is very interesting and amazing work that he got.

I didn’t just do research about location photography. I also looked at the other different photographers. I really like the underwater photography because it is something not every photographer can do and you always have to be careful in the water. I found the great underwater photographer. Her name is Zena Holloway and she is currently working for so many advertising. Her photographs in the water are amazing because every photos of her underwater pictures look different. It is really hard to take picture in the underwater and I can see she add lots of afford to make all of them look very different with other photographers.

I also made research about another photographer named Jerry Uelsmann. He is a very creative person more than photographer. He didn’t just take photograph of the location. He always showing the meaning to everyone of his photograph. I have one favourite picture of his photograph that he combined with the water, sea and the hand. First he took the picture of the location picture and then connected with water on the hand. That photograph designs is very unique one. I really like the idea of all his photographs because it isn’t just about taking photograph, it is also have the meaning on it.

My designs are inspired by Paul Grundy’s work. I really like his work so my photographs are similar like his style such as the colour, the tone of it and the angle of the photograph. I organised all my work in my sketchbook sticking all them in the right places and I sticked them very neat. I also made annotate to my works that I’ve done during this assignment. I did really enjoy this assignment because I learnt a lot about using DSLR camera changing many different settings. During one week half term I went to Isle of Wight for photo shot because Isle of Wight sea and really like to get nice photo shot so I went there. I got so many nice shot of the views in Isle of Wight that I wanted to start with my final outcome.

I am quiet happy with my final design outcome. 

I planned to use photoshot to my photography but at the end I decided not to because I really like the natural photograph which is showing natural day light and natural beauty of the nature. Each photography assignment taught me to learn more about the using camera and taught me how to take picture to get nice landscape and portrait. That’s why  I really enjoy my photography assignment. If I will have more time to complete this again I would like to make it look more professional photograph.

Memory Evaluation

 The first time when I received this assignment; I started thinking about memories of my dog who died when I was little. She was my first dog in my life therefore I decided to make memory project about her. I knew what I wanted to do so I started getting out the ideas of what I wanted to make my final outcome and started developing. It was easy while I was thinking but it wasn’t easy when I started to work on it. I started writing about the accident story of my dog. I showed it to my teacher and we discussed about what we should develop my work. 

I researched the artists’ work and a little bit about themselves while I was working on my project to get the idea of what I should do. I made research using the Internet then I did stick their works into my sketchbook. I also wrote annotate each of their works. I took some of the idea from the artist and made my project inspired by them. In this project I drew lots of picture of my dog and painted of my dog then did photo manipulation by using all of my works on Photoshop.

I have made 3 dimensional project of my dog by using foam, masking tape, small pin and the scalpel with the cutting map. I used 3 layers for the dog head base on my dog’s story. I made the whole dog’s body to make the project stand very well to make it look perfect. I did have problem with make my object to stand very well because it was made by quiet soft foam. I didn’t know I will have to make 3D project so the project out come didn’t look well but if I will have more time I would like to improve my design to something unique and looking great.

I had some difficulties with annotating the artists’ work and my own work because it was hard to describe of what I think about their work in Art language such as what is the art is telling and showing. I couldn’t hand it in my project on the deadline day because I didn’t finish my 3 dimensional works on the time I should be finished.  I wasn’t satisfied with the 3D project because it looked simple and looks very boring.

I did organise my work by sticking the works into sketchbook in the right pages and I wrote the number of the page to make it easier to find it. If I will have more time for this project I would like to create more of the 3D project by using many different materials and paint my dog’s picture with many different type of paint techniques.

About my dog named "JC"

Since I was a little girl I love dogs and puppies. They are the wonderful animals in the world that stay very close and faithful to their owners.  I received my puppy when I was 8 years old.  My parents promised me if I get grade A they will buy me a puppy so I worked hard and got an A in the whole class so they were proud of me and bought me a puppy.

My parents brought me to the place where I could choose my own puppy. That day I was so exciting about having a puppy. When I arrived there I saw so many puppies that wanted me to choose them. In the group of puppies I saw my shiny brown puppy who came to my foot and bit my toes. I picked her up and she looked so adorable. I could see from her face that one day she was going to be a very loyal dog for me.

I brought her back to my home after I chose her. She was a very tiny puppy and in my country the weather is very hot and at night it is dark so my parents worried about the puppy and decided to take it back to the place where I got it from for a while. I didn’t want to do that but I had to, so I let my parents do it. She is a mixed breed of Jack Russell terrier and Cavalier Kings Charles Spaniel.

I named her JC because she is always jumpy and bouncy just like a jelly and very cute so I gave her JC. One week later my parents brought her to our home in the afternoon. As soon as she got out from the car she came to me and licked my toes and my face. She knew me already. She was a very playful puppy as she is very young. She never liked to be left alone in the house but if we had to she understood and stayed quietly at home. She understood human beings very well. She became a member of our family.

She loved to come with us for a ride in the car. I still remembered how she stood up near the window and her head was out and she loved to stay like that anytime we took her for a ride with us. She just loved us a lot and she never liked us to leave her. One day she got pregnant with a Pug and we took extra care for her to be healthy all the time. Even though she got pregnant she never cared for herself and always came into my bedroom and slept.  A few weeks later she had a litter of puppies of her own. Her puppies were so adorable just like her. We decided to keep one for her and sold the other puppies to a good home.

Her daughter’s name was Punkey because she got a penguin sign wrinkle on her forehead.  My JC didn’t care about her own daughter after 8 weeks of the puppy’s age. She kept coming into my room and wanted to sleep with me. She didn’t care even though her daughter was crying because she didn’t’ stay with her. She just loves human beings. She always needed attention from us. Her daughter is totally different with her. She didn’t really like to cuddle to her, to be picked up or kissed by her.

JC was so jealous of her daughter because we took care of her daughter like how we did when she was young so she didn’t like it. She only wanted us to take care of her. When we left both alone at home her daughter didn’t mind but she kept crying, barking. We made both of them used to it and they both got used to it and fine at the end of the day.

One day we left both of them in our big garden and planned to go out in the car. JC she used to come with us wherever we went so she wanted to come with us a lot. When we left our house she was looking at us and her daughter was making her play but she didn’t give any attention to her daughter and stared at me. My housemaid forgot to close the door because she was trying to put both dogs in the house. As soon as we left and got quite far away from our house JC ran after our car and didn’t look around her and a mini car hit her and drove away.

I was shocked because I saw everything and I started to cry and we turned around our car and went to JC.  Sadly she passed away straight away because her head and body got separated as the mini cut it off.  That was the saddest day for us. As a tradition people say your dog saved your life instead of us going to die, she saved us. Her daughter didn’t know because she was in the house. I cried a lot so did my family. She was the best loyal dog for us and we had to lose her in this way, which is just so sad.

I took her daughter near her to show what happened to her mother, which I shouldn’t have done. The puppy didn’t know what had happened so she didn’t care. We made JC a grave in our garden and we put stuff that she liked when she was alive.  On the same night my mum dreamt about her that she was playing with us and jumping. A few days later her daughter was waiting for her in front of the gate. She didn’t know her mum passed away and she kept waiting and waiting. This is the best memory for me from my childhood. Her daughter is still alive and she is a very healthy dog and loves to be alone because she is a lazy pug.

JC is the best dog I’ve ever had. She was a friendly, very loyal and playful dog.
